Overview

The CX 200 Tour 16x19 is perfect for the experienced player who wants a speedy and spin-friendly player's racquet with great control and feel. Like the 18x20 version, this racquet combines a surgical 95 square inch head with a thin beam and arm-friendly stiffness rating. For 2021, Dunlop adds FlexBooster technology, a thin rubber material in the shaft that absorbs harsh vibrations without compromising your connection to the ball. As with the previous generation, this racquet's upper hoop is softened with Sonic Core, a material technology that uses Infinergy to minimize shock and transfer greater energy to the ball. This stick also features a PowerGrid StringTech system, which optimizes string spacing to create a more comfortable, spin-friendly and responsive hitting experience. From the baseline, the CX 200 Tour 16x19 offers mindless targeting on full swings. It also boasts a speedy sub 320-RDC swingweight, making it great for hitting balls on the run or whipping up heavy spin. Compared to the 18x20 version, the CX 200 Tour 16x19 offers slightly easier access to spin along with a higher trajectory response for easier access to depth. Ultimately, with this update to the CX 200 16x19 Tour, Dunlop has delivered a fast and precise weapon to experienced players. The great feel at impact is a nice bonus.

Feel With A Little Extra PowerLove this racquet. My 1st time using a Dunlop. The Tennis Warehouse review of this racquet convinced me to try Dunlop for the first time. A lot of people said this racquet is underrated and I couldn't agree more. I love the classic thin frame and to have it in 95 sq inch with a little more power and feel just check all my boxes. My previous rackets are Head Graphite Pro (89 sq inch) , Head Graphene XT Prestige Rev Pro (93 sq inch), Yonex Vcore Pro 97 (97 sq inch) Wilson Pro Staff 97 Black (97 sq inch).

Sweet spotI am a Pro Staff user, looking for a more friendly racquet. The CX200 feels too head light and unstable when facing big hitters, also the sweet spot feels very small, not ideal racquet for clay, where you have to deal with a lot a of bad bouncing. So I will keep looking for the ideal racquet for me.

Weekly club player over 50I grew up playing with midsize Donnays and then Volkl C10s in the late 90s. Switched to Babolat and those eventually tore up my arm. Went back to a classic size, weight, and flex with the Dunlop 200cx tour. Saved my arm and my game. You really have to generate your own power, the racquet won't do it for you but that's good for me- less long balls. Deep backhands are a little tricky sometimes. I string at 55 with Wilson NXT control. Comfortable and feels like a true extension of my arm.

CX 200 Tour vs PS 97, not as goodLong time prostaff 90 player, then to RFA, then to ProStaff 97 (lighter than the RF signature). Tried the Clash 98, Head Prestige and Dunlop CX200 Tour. Clash the best of the bunch, but will stay with the PS97. The CX 200 Tour had a dead spot for my backhand and extremely small sweet spot. It is just not a pleasant feeling racquet to hit a 4.5 ball coming at you. Not enough support in the racquet. Did not enjoy this racquet and could instantly tell something was off.

Best player's racquet in a long timeAfter demoing a dozen or so of the current player's frames on the market (93-97in head size with a low RA flex #), the Dunlop CX 200 Tour 16x19 separated itself from the pack by a large margin. I'd equate the racquet to a Pro Kennex Redondo in a better spec than either size of the Redondo (93 or 98). Coming from the Prince Textreme Tour 95, I like a control racquet that can still generate extra spin via a 16x19 or more open pattern. There aren't many racquets like this. The CX 200 Tour 16x19 does this beautifully, allowing me to hit out on most balls and still obtain enough spin to consistently hit my serves in the box and bring the ball down before going long on groundstrokes. Compared to the Prince Textreme Tour 95, it is lower powered and with more feel thanks to its thinner beam width. The Prince string pattern (also 16x19) was a little more open than Dunlop's due to the drilling width and thus provided slightly more spin.

Sweet SpotI've been playing with similar frames for almost 20 years-Dunlop, Volkl, Wilson and Technifibre- between 11.2-11.6 oz, 6-8 pts hl, 95-98 head and 62-66 flex. I cannot go heavier due to an old separated shoulder. This is by far my favorite. My second favorite was the Dunlop Biomimetic 200 lite, but that needed a bit of tip weight for an effective serve, and was less stable against power hitters. This racquet plays a little lighter than it's specs would suggest, and provides what I would call easy power as well as great precision. Once you get it swinging it somes through quite well on its own. It has a very stable upper hoop that helps me knife shots down the line or change direction with control, and a well distributed flex that allows for great finesse. I tried both this and the 18x20, and preferred this a wee bit more for spins, but the 18x20 is even more accurate. Both frames are more comfortable and shock absorbant than any prior models. My current favorite combo for a 95 head is 16 gut/17 poly at 55/52. Planning to get another and be happy for a few years!

Previous Feedback

Comments: Construction and materials of everything in the frame is very high quality. I have always used Dunlop, first m-fill 300, then biomimetic 300. This frame with the slightly smaller head size and slightly thinner beam obviously has less power. So it forces you to work on technique and striking cleanly. The feel is very solid and reliable at impact, slightly more muted than what I was using before. I think this frame excels when you start hitting with a 'next generation' type forehand. My backhand slice is exceptional with this frame. I strung the mains with natural gut at 57 lbs and crosses with poly at 54 lbs. I think it will perform much better for me if I go down at least 5 lbs next time I string it. I tried a little bit of lead tape but I'm not sure if I need it, if I hit clean it is stable. Perhaps as I grow into the frame and bring the tension down I will add more weight.

Comments: Excellent frame when the swingweight is brought up to around 325-330 (I did so with 3 grams of bumper guard tape). Great power of combination of power and directional control. I previously used a Yonex VCORE Pro HD and Pro Staff 97 CV. Compared to the HD, it feels quicker through the air and easier on the arm (for me, at least) despite a slightly higher RA. I get similar confidence that full swings will stay in. Compared to the Pro Staff, there is less easy spin, but significantly better control. I am serving faster and more accurately than with either of the other racquets. My only complaint would be that this has more of a Wilson grip shape, and I prefer a more Prince-like grip.

Comments: Phenomenal racquet when customized. Feel is great, spin potential is high; it just needs weight so it doesn't feel flimsy.

Comments: Hit with my new CX 200 after adding eight grams to the hoop and four grams under the butt cap. With a dampener and overgrip it weighs 342 grams and feels good. Improved my game all around while giving great feel and feedback. The string pattern is also good at 16x19 and is not too open. It seems as though the racquet is very arm-friendly. I have it strung at 57 pounds, Gosen Sidewinder on mains and Gamma XP Livewire on crosses. This may seem tight, but is due to Sidewinder being very soft and powerful. I have used a lot of frames and strings over the years and think this is a little comparable to the Babolat Pure Control Tour from years ago. However, this is more refined and precise. I play all-court power tennis and used to compete at a reasonable level.
