Yonex reengineers the beam and updates the material technology for 2022

Introducing the second generation of the EZONE Tour! Like the previous version, this racquet puts the spin-friendly precision of the standard EZONE 98 into a heavier, more stable package. Although more challenging to swing, this racquet's extra mass delivers an undeniable boost in plow-through and pop. In addition to widening the beam for extra stability and power, Yonex adds 2G NAMD SPEED to the graphite layup, resulting in increased pocketing and better ball feedback. The RA-stiffness is also a smidge higher than the previous version, resulting in a slightly crisper feel without compromising the plush feel for which Yonex player's racquets are known. Other technologies include Yonex’s time-tested ISOMETRIC head shape, a unique design feature that makes Yonex racquets feel more generous and forgiving than conventionally shaped equivalents. Ultimately, this update is a great option for intermediate and advanced players looking for a precise and spin-friendly weapon. It not only redirects pace with ease but also rewards aggressive mechanics with enough pop to keep your opponent in check.

Best racquet I have ever hadI was playing with lighter racquets around 300 or 305 grams. But I switched to this one and now I am never going back. The more weight is better for me, since I have to use less effort. The racquet's mass takes care of producing power instead of my arm due to simple physics. Some could disagree but I'm not going against science.

Play like NadalI've been using regular ezone 98 for two years, and I play with tons of topspin and depth with some heavy kickserve. But at the 4-4.5 level, I've been struggling with spin and depth, especially in the third set with the ezone 98. But the tour version is a kickass! It is exactly what I want against big hitters. Not to mention the volleys - even with a little bit of off center contact, the volleys are precise and felt so crisp.

Thunder StickHave been hitting with the Ezone 98 Tour for about 3 weeks. Definitely a “big boy” racquet. You can feel the extra 30 grams but generally all positive. On the serve it feels like the racquet swings itself. Forehands are just “sh&t rocked” - easy power. Control is awesome. Net play and slices take some adjustment. Strung with RPM in the mains (55) and NRG2 (60) in the crosses. Great looking - especially when strung with black string. Highly recommended but not for everyone.

PerfectNot often that you find a frame that plays like it was designed specifically for you, but that's the case here for me. Perfect just the way it is.

OKLongtime DUEL G 330 user, need something a little easier now that I am older. Was hopeful, but this stick didn't have the control and feel of the DUEL G, and I was launching balls into the back of the fence - strings perhaps. More maneuverable than the DUEL G for sure, but didn't work for me.

it's boxy but good!*As Dudley Moore’s character in “Crazy People” says when advertising Volvos. I second Perry’s review below, to a T. I did not want or expect to like this frame so much. I’ve played with the Babolat Pure Strike Tour and its precursors for two decades and have never much liked the look of Yonex. But after testing this racquet along with the Babolat Aero 98 (which hurt my elbow and was too light), the Yonex V-Core 95, and the Yonex V-Core Pro 330, this racquet stood out as offering the best combination of control and power, with plenty of plow-through. With a leather grip and no other customization I find it just about perfect. It feels like new technology to me—I love controlled players’ racquets, and this racquet with its slight heft has a controlled feel while also offering a bit more assistance to the player, if that makes sense. Sometimes there’s a slightly disconnected feel because the damn thing is so comfortable, but all in all I highly recommend it. Aesthetically, even, the paint job is striking, and this Tour version, strung with the combo of Babolat Vs Team 17 in the mains and Luxilon Alu Power Rough 16L in the crosses, at about 57/54 pounds, is truly a stellar instrument. Serving is a blast. This feels like a great option for intermediate to advanced players. Strung up and with a leather grip and Babolat Vs overgrip, it weighs in at 343 grams. And dare I say the specs feel perfect. I’ve decided to switch to this racquet. Yonex — they’re boxy but they’re good.

A beast in the hand!Excellent frame and design with each spec behind this latest ezone 98 tour model! Personally I felt below on playing with this racquet: 1. Serve speed with more stability on this new one. 2. Ground shots from base line to base line amazing. 3. Front net volleys all are winners 4. Every ball contact with this new racket model, I felt more stable in the in the hand and very aggressive support in tackling the ball and pin point direction and feels like correct weight. Appreciated the team who designed this Ezone 98 tour with great specks.

SUBLIMEThe ‘22 Ezone 98 Tour continues the design mods that were implemented with the VCP updates with subtle differences. Compared to the ‘20 version, the racquet feels more connected on impact. Though it's rated slightly stiffer than the ‘20, it feels more subdued and less of a traditional tweener frame. Power and spin potential are still very much in the forefront but with an added sense of consistency off the ground. You're less likely to hit that “whoa what the” shot that just takes off. Yonex somehow managed to improve the overall feel, enhance its stability, while simultaneously dialing back a tad on the power though the numbers say otherwise. Those 1hbh players concerned with its beefy balance need only swap out the factory synthetic grip with a quality leather and problem solved! For those who like a little more heft in their sticks but want some new school tech/playability, the ‘22 Tour should certainly be on your short list. Solid, stable, controllable pop with the right form, a good update to an already very good racquet!
