Big hitters looking for a precise and powerful weapon will love this update

Yonex adds another chapter to one of the game's most surgical extended length racquets. Like previous generations, this update to the EZONE 98+ combines the precision of a 98 square inch head with the extra pop of an extended length racquet. For 2022 Yonex adds 2G NAMD SPEED to the graphite layup, resulting in increased pocketing and better ball feedback. Yonex has also redesigned the  beam in several locations, including a thicker, more convex cross section in the shaft (for stability) along with a thinner frame face (for a softer response). Other technologies include Yonex’s time-tested ISOMETRIC head shape, a unique design feature that makes Yonex racquets feel more generous and forgiving than conventionally shaped equivalents. Ultimately, with some slight tweaks to the beam and feel, Yonex has produced an impressive update. Players looking for some extra pop on serves and groundies won't be disappointed.

A well developed and refined racquetAfter reviewing this latest development from Yonex on TW's Racquet Comparison Tool, I decided to buy it because it is similar but different to other racquets I have bought from TW in the past. This Yonex Ezone 98+ has a range of similar statistical scores for weight, length, swingweight, flex, balance, and twistweight stability rating. This generation is also the first for Yonex to have four pairs or eight strands of string for the center mains. Their racquets up until now have only had three pair or six strands in the center mains. I always wanted to try a Yonex with this shape when they produced one similar to my other racquets. If someone wants a little more from it, a couple strips of lead tape in the ten and two o'clock position will do it. Demo, try, experience, and enjoy.

Overall Great RacquetTLDR; pros: stroke feel, power, and large sweet spot cons: slower to maneuver at net, looks are ok, grip bad Really like the racquet, feels great and has a seemingly large sweet spot. Now that I'm playing more regularly (about once a week), I wanted something more modern with a bit more power. It took me some time to get accustomed to the added weight / length, but with that, I have felt slower maneuvering the racquet up at net - maybe that will improve with time, but it doesn't feel as fast as my previous racquet, but I guess that's the tradeoff with the added power. The standard grip it comes with is garbage and Yonex should be embarrassed, it's so slick and you'll need some sort of overgrip or to just regrip it. The looks are just ok to me, it obviously doesn't affect performance, but I like nice looking toys (especially for the cost). For context of the review, I'm a 37 male, 6'2", in pretty good shape, am about 3.5-4.0, and was previously using a Babolat Aeropro Drive original (2005?).

Happy SonFirst off, I purchased these for my son. After using your "try-a-racquet" program, where he had chosen 3 to try, he chose the Yonex. I won't say what the other 2 were nor what he was using for the past 3 years. He is very happy with his decision. His serves are better as is his control at the net. The racket is supposedly a control racket, but watching him play he also has more power. The Yonex was a wise choice. We will find out for sure when he returns to school in a month and begins match play.

FInally SwitchedI have been using the DR98+ for many years and finally made the switch to this 2023 98+ version. The DR is a great racquet but thought it was time to give another a try. I customized the racquet to my previous specs (11.8 oz - weight in handle, poly @ 50 lbs). I'll miss the the thump and feel of the DR but I'll take the expanded sweet spot and maneuverability of the new one. The '23 racquet seems much easier to swing with the engineering changes they made; the handle is a bit longer, the v in the throat is smaller and the racket is ~1mm shorter. The beam is wider but thinner and the paint even seems more aerodynamic. This additional speed seems to improve my serve, volleys and I find myself getting less tired after swinging some time. On the groundstrokes it is perfectly fine, the feel and connection to the ball are good but maybe not legendary like the DR. It is a tradeoff but I'll take the speed and other improvements. Well done Yonex!(request - next time engineer an update to the grips - that aspect seems to be the same).

In LoveCan't get enough of this racquet. it has a great blend of power and control and the extra length helps with stability and leverage on the backhand. Mine have a 338 swingweight but It does not feel bulky at all. I added 4 grams of lead in the throat and that really helped the racquet come alive.
