This powerful weapon gets updated with more comfort and speed for 2022

Introducing the Wilson Ultra 100 v4! Like previous generations, this modern player's racquet specializes in speed, spin and power. At 11.2 ounces strung and boasting a sub-320 swingweight, the Ultra 100 v4 is not only ideal for intermediate players but it should also tempt the advanced ball striker who craves explosive acceleration. For 2022 Wilson adds its uniquely flexible FORTYFIVE weave to the carbon fiber layup. This not only helps the racquet bend vertically (which compliments modern topspin mechanics), but it also provides a welcomed boost in pocketing and comfort. Other updates include a re-engineered beam, including a thinner shaft for speed. Ultimately, with some nice tweaks to the feel and response, this is an impressive update to the Ultra franchise. Aggressive players looking for a powerful modern player's racquet with easy access to spin should add this to their demo list.

Best Wilson Racquet for Intermediate PlayersAfter playing with Wilson Pro Staff I decided I needed a racquet that doesn't require such effort for EVERY shot! And being older, the thin beam was taking a toll so I demoed several brand racquets and the Wilson Ultra 100 stood out for increased power and easier spin. Highly recommend over the Shift and Babolat.

You have to try this stick! The Ultra 100 is the only Wilson racquet I have ever been able to play with. I used to use the Pure Drive but this is better all around. I also changed as suggested by the team at TW from Wilson sensation 17 to NRG 17 for more power, same control and being arm friendly! Like the new set up at 50lbs I tried 8 racquets in demo and nothing hit like the Ultra.

Made the Switch!4.5 player here! I have played with a Bablot Pure Drive since I started and could never find a racket that I liked better until I demoed this version. I’ll say they are very similar but I love how light it feels but can still pack a punch. I’ll say it’s not as forgiving from the base line as the Pure Drive but that’s part of my draw toward it. Good spin potential. Good control with volleys. I’ve noticed I don’t have any elbow pain with this racket whereas I’ll tend to get some with the Pure Drive. I’m not sure if I’ll fully commit and buy a second racket but I second the review in that I’ve really enjoyed hitting with this racquet and don’t regret this purchase at all!

For Intermediate Tennis PlayerFor an intermediate level high school player this racquet is perfect, great power on the serves, better than the 2023 Pro Staff, as well the follow through feels great. This racquet has made me much more comfortable playing aggressive, as there is not only power but good control. As well I can see using the racquet going into the future as I grow more advanced.

Excellent racquet and racquet specialist helpI'm returning to tennis after several years and wanted to invest in a quality racquet. I came across this one based on the videos describing it's features. I even called the racquet specialist to get advice on what strings and tension I should get. He was very helpful and guided me in the right direction. I tried it out last week and I felt like a whole new player! It's super light, versatile and has a great grip! I'm very excited to continue to play and refine my game. I would recommend to returning players like myself!

Great Improvement and Racket from V3I'll be honest, I wanted to give the Ultra another try based on how beautiful the cosmetic looked and just reading all the reviews on it. I had the previous version, V3, and it was everything everyone was saying; very stiff and just more cons than pros about it. I finally tested this V4 and the moment you bounce/dribble the ball on the racquet, you feel and hear the stiffness of the ball bouncing off the string for sure. During match play, this racquet is all about the POWER we've all seen it being advertised. There is such great power on this racquet, its almost like the moment you know you're about to hit a good groundstroke from generating your own pace and momentum, your forehand/backhand will be unreturnable and its so satisfactory with this V4. I've seen and read other reviews saying it can be unsteady/unstable. I didn't find this to be a problem. This racquet does give you the power rather than control, so sometimes my groundstrokes sailed, but that was my fault for overhitting flat shots at times and people need to understand control comes from good technique and being able to hit good groundstrokes from the player, not the racquet itself. I didn't find the stiffness to be a problem either. It didn't cause elbow pain or vibration. Strung it with ALU Power @ 54lbs. Overall, I hit some groundstrokes that my opponents were not able to return when I had the momentum and pace, but this racquet benefits more from top spin than flat shots. The V4 is more for players that want more power in their groundstrokes that know how to control shots on their own with technique and not think to rely solely on the racquet like the V8 Blade.

Spin/power nirvana (if you like 'em stiff)This racquet is spectacular- a word I've never used before in a review of anything. If you want spin and controllable power, and you use an ATP forehand (semi-western or western grip), and you can handle a very stiff racquet this is the one. I have never played with a racquet that better encourages big hitting and an extreme topspin grip and stroke. The more you commit to an ATP topspin stroke, the more the ball spins and dives back inside the baseline. My hitting partner and I took turns murdering the ball and we just could not hit the ball long, because the harder we hit, the more the ball spun and dove inside the lines. We could control angles and precisely place the ball. Beautifully engineered! He (young, 5.0+ tournament player) is switching to this racquet. I (50's, 4.5) would like to but won't because I know that a 70 RA is too stiff for my old arm. The only drawback is that it's very stiff- you immediately can feel that it's a 70 RA. Wilson has done a good job of engineering the shock out of it, so unlike the Ultra v3 (which I didn't like at all), I did not feel jarring or vibration, despite not using a dampener of any kind, but it's very obvious from the first hard-hit ball that the frame is not assisting you with ball-pocketing. Instead, you must control your shots with spin. I am not normally a fan of Wilson racquets but this one makes me wish I had a younger man's arm.

AwesomeStrung with Tour Bite 16 gauge at 52 lbs. Awesome racquet. I play with the 2021 Pure Drive with same string set up. Very similar. The ultra has a bit lighter feel, like head light, but has easy access to spin and power like the Pure Drive. The Ultra does feel like it flexes a bit more than the Pure Drive. It's not as stiff. Some like that, some don't but it would probably be easier on the arm than the Pure Drive. I love my Pure Drive but the Ultra was a lot of fun to hit with. Great racquet.
