Overview

The Tourna Ballport Deluxe Ball Hopper is a ball pick-up designed for great durability and portability used by teaching pros and players alike. This ball hopper is made of a durable polypropylene with wheels for easy transportation, as well as two top sliding bars for securing balls. The bars on the bottom and extra-long 33" handles that lock in place up or down, make for easy pick up. The basket holds 80 balls.

Product seems to have been redesignedI was hesitant to purchase this given some of the reviews regarding the longevity of this product. It does appear that this product has been redesigned. The wheels no longer look like the ones in the product picture and they do not need to be screwed on. Instead, they are two plastic halves that snap together around the built-in axle in the side panel. This seems a much better improvement over the previous design. The panels need eight screws to be put together. Everything felt like it came together well and I am not currently too concerned about this falling apart. Time will tell if this holds together better than prior versions. I'll be sure to update if I notice any issues.

Good but...Lightweight hopper. Doesn't hold as many balls as advertised but...love the wheels. Comes in a flat box — assembly required. Over time, screws and bolts fall off, the wheels fall off, the plastic cracks. Eventually, about 2 years from purchase, it's ready for the trash heap. You buy larger bore screws to replace the screws in their stripped holes to put that off, but one day you'll buy some plywood planks and rebuild it if you're handy. If not, landfill. The metal ones are worse. The welds fall apart—if you can weld thin metal, good.

Comments: It easy to change from hopper to stable waist level stand. No durability issues there. Good price compared to metal hoppers.

Comments: Assembly isn't intuitive, but not impossible. The nuts/bolts will fall out unless you use a thread locker. Find exact replacements in the metric section of a hardware store. It holds maybe 50-60 balls, not 80, but I don't need it to hold more. The frame will not withstand pulling them down stairs for long. If using this with a ball machine, the lip inside the top edges will keep a few balls from rolling out easily. Still the price is decent.

Comments: Half of the bolts holding the wheels to the hopper came off. They are a metric size 4, which I got at Ace Hardware. Suggest a threadlocking compound like loctite red or loctite blue to prevent this event. If the wheels come off, you'll appreciate having bought the hopper with wheels.

Comments: Love this hopper. Wheels improve it for moving between car and courts and when walking it to the opposite side of the court when using a ball machine. The only deficiency applies to ball machine users, the inside top lip and the retention bars on the top keep the balls from dropping out into the ball machine without shaking the hopper. Easily fixed by zip tying a foot long piece of half inch pvc pipe or closed cell foam near the top on each of the long sides.
