Overview

Solinco Hyper-G is a shaped co-poly with an impressive combination of spin and precision. Developed for an ATP top 50 player, this medium firm string will allow big hitters to take massive cuts at the ball without having to worry about overhitting. Topspin players who like hitting balls that dive sharply and explode off the court should love this string.

Not durable Hyper-G: 01/18/24 to 02/25/24. Hyper-G: 02/26/24 to 03/15/24. I just play two times a week. I'm 4.0 player, the string is nice and I like it, but is too much and I do not consider my self big hitter. I feel frustrated. If I buy again, it's going to break any time in the middle of the game.

Heavy balls with lots of topspinAs advertised this string allows you to hit a massive ball with topspin that explodes off the court, and that is with a RF97 v13, not the most spin friendly racquet. I didn't notice any tension drop. The downside is this string broke for me after 2-3 hours of match play.

Really like it! I really like this string, since I use a lot of spin on my forehand and backhand. I have it in some of my racquets, wouldn't mind maybe different colors in the future.

Comments: I am using Solinco Hyper-G 16 in a Yonex EZONE 100 at 53 pounds. I agree with most comments; the string has good playing characteristics, but it killed my elbow and wrist. It is actually very stiff. People having elbow problems should look for something softer, or go with the lower tension.

Comments: I had been using RPM Blast 16 gauge in my 2019 Pure Aero strong at 53 pounds. It's the most amazing string for the first four hours, then the spin and control fall off. I have found with Hyper-G 16 gauge I can get 12-15 hours of consistent play out of with amazing control and spin. It's relatively comfortable for a polyester and is my new go-to string.

Comments: To sum my comment up this is the best string I've ever tried. It's a nice combo of power, precision, spin, and durability. Very arm-friendly compared to other polyesters. This will be now my string of choice. I use it on my Prince Textreme Tour 95 racquet, at 50 pounds.

Comments: I am a 4.5-5 power baseline player. I have been using a Babolat Pure Aero Plus with Babolat VS in the mains (55 lbs). I started my hybrid beds with crosses of RPM Blast (53 lbs) and then moved to Luxilon ALU Power Rough (53 lbs). I have seen the distinctive green color show up on a few racquets on tour and decided to try Hyper G. It is a great combination with VS and I get just as much spin (if not more) and I get a bit more feel (even a bit of pocketing plushness). Consider me a fan!

Comments: I'm a 5.0+ aggressive baseliner. My racquet of choice is a Yonex 95D with a Kimony leather grip and a bit of lead tape on the sides. Coming from 16L gauge Tour Bite strung at the low 40 pounds that I've used for the last 3 years, I decided to try Hyper-G, also strung in the low 40's. It has pretty similar groundies as Tour Bite, I like the depth and ease of my racquet. Chips and drop shots have a ton of feel and on the defense, topspin or slice, it still retains that good depth without having to arm that defensive shot. My serve feels more solid than with the Tour Bite. Power is definitely easy with this so I can focus on placement and racquet head speed. The part where it suffers is at the net, I feel like the punching of the volleys causes it to fly a bit farther than desired. I literally have to keep my hand soft until midway into contact. It's still a weird thing to figure out, but I'll give it another two weeks or whenever I break the string. I'd personally use it for singles but I see myself going back to Tour Bite after I'm done with this reel. Not a fan of the color either.

Comments: These strings do feel easier on the arm than other polys. However, these felt kind of "mushy" to me. The launch off the string bed felt a little unpredictable at times; I tended to hit long. I just didn't feel totally connected to my shots. I prefer more of a "crisp" feel. I tried these in my RF97 in the 50's and even in the 40's when my wrist was injured. Perhaps a hybrid setup might work. I feel like I have to experiment too much to like these so I'm using other strings right now.-WillFormer #1 college player; USPTA Pro

Comments: Strung Hypger-G 16 at 38 lbs, good spin, power, control and at least for my arm, arm and shoulder friendly.
From:J2, 4/13/18

Comments: Used this by a recommendation from a professional stringer after his return from the us open who suggested it as an alternative to Luxilon 4G Soft 16. It had nice bite but for some reason felt muted for me. The spin response was significant but I felt the responsiveness was low and not for me as I string high on my Head Extreme Pro. Durability was average. I'm a 4.5 player who hits heavy topspin.
From:Phillip, 6/4/17

Comments: I used to love it, but I have mixed feelings at the moment. In a more controlled racquet such as my Ai 98, I get nice spin, control, and a muted but flexible feel. On the contrary, when I put it in the Babolat Pure Drive, it felt springy at times and I lost control easily. I don't know what to make of it. I think I should increase the tension from 52 to 54 or 55 on the Pure Drive. I thought 52 would work because I had 52 in my Ai 98 but I suppose it's not so.
From:Matthew, 3/22/17

Comments: Awesome string! Holds the tension well and the ball pocketing is excellent such that you can predict where you shot is going to land with pin point accuracy. I do agree with some previous comments on lowering the tension to get more juice out of the string. I strung the string in my black RF97 at 48/46 lbs.
From:A, 11/16

Comments: I am playing twice a week with great 17 year old semi-pro players. I use a heavily modified Babolat Pure Drive Team strung with BB ALU Power at 53 lbs. I won this string at a local competition. After 4 sets I got golfers elbow. Never had any kind of medical problems. My season is over. Never ever I will buy anythink from Solinco again!
From:Frank, 10/16

Comments: This string is ridiculous! Absolutely insane amounts of topspin. It's almost too much! I had to aim 2 feet higher than normal after coming from Yonex PTP. The ball was exploding off the court. Crazy how different I had to play to accommodate for the spin. I've only played one time with Hyper G so far and haven't decided yet if I'll stick with it. I also recently hit with Lux ALU soft and loved that string at 50/52 lbs. I'm a strong 4.5 all court player. 5.0 soon.
From:PJS, 5/16

Comments: This string pops the ball. The only other string coming close is Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour which I used for a many years. I strung this at 52 lbs in a new Pure Aero Tour and does it ever bite and pocket the ball nicely. Rips groundies with tons of spin and kicks the ball wide on the serve. Has held tension nicely and after 6+ hours of aggressive 4.5-5.0 drilling maintains its playability. Only concern is the aesthetic. Some like the green, but I would prefer it in a black or royal blue.
From:Andrew, 4/16

Comments: Great control and spin. Very good for defense. In the Blade 98S, it last about 3-4 hours of solid hitting (6-10 ball rallies). That Blade 98S is a string breaker. It is a crisp string, which I like. Tension is 48 lbs. It is good on all the strokes -- just solid. I had to try it at several tensions between 48-54 lbs. It just plays better on volleys and touch shots at a lower tension for me. I just wished it lasted longer.
From:Julias, 4/16

Comments: Great string! Switched from Pacific X-cite to Hyper G 16. Notthe softest of polys but it has masses of spin. Holds tension very well.I use this in a Pure Aero strung at 56 lbs. The string excels the harderyou swing. I'm a 5.0 player aggressive baseliner.

Comments: I'm 15, I have been playing tennis since I was 3-4 years old. I'm currently using the Head Radical REV (customized) with Lux ALU Power Rough strung a 50 pounds. It's a beast but you want to know whats not "beast" the price. I've been looking for a cheaper string that offers really good spin, control and durability since I am a string breaker. I have the Nadal swing that comes up and around my head so spin might be not much of an issue. Anyway, a buddy of mine recently ordered Solinco Hyper G 16G. He has it on his Radical MP strung at 50 pounds as well. And I loved this string! Spin, spin, spin and control, control, control and guess what? Durability too! It's perfect for my swing style, droping right down with lots of explosion! This one is a little softer than ALU Power Rough and is much cheaper and durable. Overall, I really suggest you try this string. I'm a 4.5 tennis player playing in highschool.
From:Joshua, 3/16

Comments: Great string. Probably the best string I have used that is good for every stroke. It is stiffer, but feels good. After about 6 hours, it does not move in my Wilson Blade 98S, strung at 50 pounds. It is notching, but it still grips the ball very well. Topspin is awesome. I can spin the ball and hit flat shots (really lower over the net spin shots that penetrate through the court). I wish it came in gray, silver, or black.
From:Julias, 1/16

Comments: I recently had this strung in my Babolat Pure Aero Team. So far the performance is great, lots of spin and very responsive. Additionally there is a lot control from these strings.
From:Tristan, 11/15

Comments: This is the best string I've played with. Tried both the 16 and 16L. Lots of pop and spin but softer than Tour Bite. Three players I work with switched as well. A 45 year old 4.5 player switched from Tour Bite because of the arm comfort. One nationally ranked junior moved from Lux BB to Hyper G 16L because of the jump in power and another went from Head Reflex to Hyper G 16 because of the way the ball stayed on the strings longer. Everyone loves the green. Tried the 18 once for fun, but it broke way too quickly.
From:John, 11/15

Comments: Awesome string! It plays very similar to Tour Bite but a touch softer. It's super responsive and has tons of spin. The color is amazing too! The ball tends to get lost in the string bed giving you that edge! I was using Tour Bite Soft in a hybrid because of arm problems. But with Hyper G I go with a full bed strung three pounds looser. I have always been a big Solinco fan when it comes to strings and overgrips. All in all, a great string that's super arm friendly with the same shape as Tour Bite. It feels so similar to Tour Bite Soft, it could be called Tour Bite Extra Soft XD.
