Great ballsGreat balls. Using them on Har-tru courts in Florida.

Feel like bricks - don’t buy this ballPlayed two sets on Har Tru with these balls in FL. Basically feel like hard bricks. Terrible ball. Shoulder hurts due to how hard they feel. They fly off the strings like bullets. Try the Dunlop Grand Prix REG DUTY if you’re on clay or Har Tru. Throw the Penn in the trash can.

Hit and MissBought a case of these balls. One can was DOA and another had some pressure in the can, but the balls had very little bounce. Balls from other cans used so far were either great or just OK. I have purchased these before and had great results, but not this time. I feel I have to take multiple cans to a match in the event I open a can of dudes. Will try another brand next time.

Avoid-mushy and poor qualityQuality has gone down on these balls. Dead in the can as soon as I opened one. Some were out of round causing them to bounce oddly. I am not willing to use the remaining cans and have ordered another case from a different brand. I will avoid Penn brand balls.

Comments: Inconsistent results, some cans have balls that don't bounce enough. I just bought these and have kept the box at 74 degrees Fahrenheit room temperature. It's embarrassing when I bring balls to play with other people.

Comments: Worst tennis ball I have played with in years. I played a match on clay with these balls and they were jumping off the court. Second serves (flat) from my opponents were bouncing over my shoulder. They were heavier, harder and had way too much bounce for match play. I find it difficult to believe that they are legal for USTA match play.

Comments: I'm not a fan of these balls. I've been playing competitive tennis for 35 years and have used many balls for practice and in tournaments. The Marathon ball feels like it's slightly larger in diameter compared to the Wilson US Open ball or the regular Penn or Wilson balls. The felt cover is dense and it feels like the rubber underneath is extra thick. The balls also feel harder and heavier out of the tube than any I've every played with. The sound coming off the strings with this ball is also strange. Heavy feeling and oddly quiet on good contact. Perhaps with the Marathon name they are supposed to be a long lasting practice ball instead of a tournament ball. I will not buy them again.

Comments: I agree with the comment below. My tennis partner brought a can of these balls for our match on clay and even as we warmed up, I immediately noticed the difference. These balls were livelier than what we've been playing with and remained consistent throughout our three hour match. The balls held up extremely well and were still firm when we finished. Think I've found my new clay court ball!

Comments: I discovered this ball this summer and I played on a clay court with it. For me, it is an excellent tennis ball, with very nice bounce and good plow through. I highly recommend this tennis ball for clay courts. For indoor season I will try the extra duty version.
