Overview

Introducing the Instinct Team L! Like the Graphene 360+ Instinct Lite, this racquet not only offers impressive maneuverability (think ease of use), it also packs a forgiving 107 square inch head and open 16x19 string pattern (think comfort, power and spin). Other features include a slightly extended length for extra power on groundies and serves. In addition to being a great option for both beginners and early intermediate players, the Instinct Team L is suitable for the senior doubles specialist who craves speed, comfort and power. As with the other Instinct models, the signature technology is Graphene 360+, which combines the stability and power of Graphene 360 with SpiralFibers in the lower head for a cleaner feel at impact. All in all, this racquet not only provides the benefits of generous 107 square inch head, it also delivers the speed, spin and power for which the Instinct series is known. The fact that it is more arm-friendly than the majority of its competitors is a nice bonus.

Recommend the racquet, TW staff most of allThe racquet is light and responsive, gives good control with boost to power. Great for net play. But the star of the show is the TW staff. I needed the racquet within a quick turnaround time for a tournament and they delivered exceptional customer service. The original order was delayed and one of the training staff put in a rush order (Steven) and got me my racquet on time. I've never seen such excellent service and concern from a company to ensure 100 percent satisfaction. My husband and I will always use Tennis Warehouse for anything tennis related. I wish the rest of the world operated as well as they do!!

Senior Doubles StickOver the past 8 years I have been playing with oversized frames. It started with the Dunlop 300G 105. Excellent racquet. Then, the HEAD i. Radical OS. Great frame. Now in my late 60s and still playing regularly, I wanted something with a bit more power but wanted to avoid anything too stiff. At 63 RA, the Instinct is just right! For me, this frame is a bit too light in stock form. I added lead in the handle and at 3 and 9 o'clock for a static weight of 11 ounces. This racquet is a howitzer if not strung properly. I hit "old school" with my eastern forehand and backhand. I don't load with a lot of spin either. I needed a string to tame the inherent power without taking away from the nice pop it has. I'm still experimenting with string but my latest configuration is Kevlar Mains and Wilson NXT Control crosses at 55/60. Incredible feel and sound. Comfortable too. I've tried poly hybrid, poly alone and poly/poly hybrid and nothing has worked out better than the kevlar yet. Still experimenting. This may take awhile.

Better Fit For MeMy current racquet was a modified HEAD i. radical OS. Nothing really wrong with that frame for a doubles specialist but I was not getting any pop on my serves. I wanted something lighter with about the same RA and the same size head. Enter the Instinct with its very light static weight. It felt stiffer than the 63RA would let on, so I decreased my poly string (Hyper-G 18g) tension and found a plusher response and a bit more power. Accuracy and control didn't suffer too much either. Not only did it ramp up my serve, but my volleys were much heavier and solid without having to "punch" too hard. Groundstrokes were as good if not better than the i. radical but with less effort involved. All I had to do was use good form and meet the ball out front and I was rewarded with some very deep penetrating balls with good spin. I modified the stock frame to have a static weight of 11oz by using lead tape and a leather grip. The stock weight at just 10oz just couldn't return hard-hit drives with any authority. The combination of a slightly extended frame with an 18 gauge string provides good feedback and plow-through. I recommend this frame to senior doubles specialists looking for a bit of power without sacrificing control. Think of this frame as a Pure Drive 107 with a softer flex.
