Overview

An iconic natural gut string used by many ATP and WTA Tour pros. This one is premium grade. It possesses an unmatched combination of power, comfort and feel. Maintains playability remarkably well at higher tensions. VS Touch is not only great for top-level play, it provides nice power and an expanded sweetspot to beginners with compact strokes. It's also a great option for tendonitis sufferers in search of a softer response. As for hybrids, this is the perfect compliment to stiff polys. Thermogut Technology Finishing increases durability and resistance to humidity, according to Babolat. This natural gut comes with BT7 Technology, which is a layering structure designed to increase durability. Offers a slightly firmer feel, but remains the "Gold Standard" for comfort and playability.

Amazing StringI have been using this string for a few years. I thought I would spoil myself since I never tried it because of price. People will tell you to try it once. So i did! I have put full poly setups in other of my frames and i just don't like the feel of poly. If you are more control oriented just up the tension. Nothing feels or pockets a ball to me like this string. I get plenty of spin power and control. I have played tennis almost 40 years. This is by far the best string I have ever played with. When you hit with it you stop thinking about the price. It's something you should try!

The best stringI'm a 4.0 doubles player, been playing tennis for 30 years. This is the best string I've ever played with and it saves my elbow. I keep experimenting with other strings to save money, but my elbow starts hurting immediately.

Elbow and shoulder preservingAt 72 years and 8 months of age I play or practice five times per week and have maintained this schedule for 43 years. Since I've able to save expenses by stringing my own frames I indulge myself and protect my various tendons by laying up a full bed of Babolat 16 gauge natural gut when I string my #1 and #2 frames. Either I have remarkably durable tendons or the more forgiving gut has enables me to avoid tennis elbow for more than four decades. So there's that. Beyond that the extra degree of control that can be accessed by the superior ball pocketing that natural gut affords is remarkable especially when compared to the stiffer polys. Consistency is also a factor. Gut will lose just under 10% of it's strung tension during the first 2 hours of challenging play (assuming pre-stretching) and then hold it's tension with almost no change until it breaks. All synthetic string will continue to lose tension at a steady rate until it is replaced. Only downsides are that gut DOES fray and DOES break sooner than synthetic string. I used to experiment with synthetics and even hybrid layups with gut in the mains, but at 72 my preferences are clear - this is the best tennis string available.

Natural GutThe item condition is brand new as described. This type of tennis string is very powerful, also the user's elbow won't be hurt and the ball can be controlled very easily. This natural gut is the best quality.

Expensive but Worth ItI use Babolat Touch VS in a hybrid set up, so I get 2 racquets out of this pack. Still the cost is high, yet the results are clear. Better durability and feel than the best multis I've tried. Takes a bit of time to let the strings settle, but once they do the pop and feel is unmatched. Plus, they last longer than a multi.

Durability issues? - just recentlyThe last two sets I've purchased and strung with seem to have durability issues, as in broken main after two matches. I've been buying VS for several years without this issue, so I'm hoping it's just a questionable batch? The price has also gone up in the last six months which I can live with (assuming supply chain), but I'm disappointed in the durability. Granted, it's the hot and humid time of year and that's likely implicated. I've also just purchased another set so I'll see how that goes. P.S. I love the feel of the strings and how easy it is on my arm, hence the 4 stars.

Gut/poly hybrid Never tried it in a full bed, but hybrid with a smooth poly (I use Wilson Revolve) is a very nice blend of comfort and spin. It can be too powerful at times compared to a poly, but man is it so much more comfortable. Even soft co-poly strings in a full bed are uncomfortable (i.e. Isospeed Cream, Yonex Poly Tour Air). Would highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort/spin. I recommend gut @ 55lbs, smooth poly @ 50lbs. p.s. I string my own racquets and have not had any issues/difficulty with stringing this. I was reluctant to try initially as I've read you have to be very careful with gut, but I'm glad I did.

Best StringsI have used only these strings for some time now. I started because of tennis elbow after reading that natural gut was kinder to the arm. I stayed with them when the elbow issue resolved because I love the feel and responsiveness of the strings.

Best Natural GutHands down the best natural gut string on the market. I have tried others but I always think to myself that it wasn't worth it to save a few bucks. I have been using this string for a decade and nothing else compares. Expensive but worth it!

Comments: Finally caved. I set up mains with Babolat Touch VS 16 at 55 and the crosses with Wilson Revolve 17 at 53 pounds. Absolutely love it! I honestly think it's perfect: comfort, feel, control, depth and spin access.
From: Matt, 12/19/21

Comments: Strung my mains with this on my Phantom Prince 93P. Loved the way it felt, offered loads of spin potential with Luxilon ALU Rough on the crosses. Plenty of control and was able to easily reuse other players pace. The cons unfortunately are stronger than the pros. It's not a cheap string.Durability, I'm not even that hard of a hitter. I am approximately a 4.0-4.5 level player. The strings lasted me all of three weeks before a main popped right in the sweetspot. I play three times a week for approximately three hours each. So I'd fashion a guess at just under 40 hours of play. If you want to spend the money and don't have an issue restringing often. Use it, it's good stuff.
From:Andrew, 9/17/20

Comments: The local tennis sage keeps saying that 70% of a racquet is strings. I've experimented a lot with racquets, lead, leather grips, but never found my tennis nirvana. When I started playing tennis some will dispute this vehemently in 2005, I had this string in my sticks, but wandered off to poly for the spin my coaches expected from me. Now I'll be back. My priority has shifted to preventing never had one. Tennis Elbow, and I gladly pick up the optimal playability of this string as well. The only string which combines touch, control, and power. Spin is just sufficient to place shots. Durability, you can safely play with it until it breaks, holds me for about two to three months, while you should change a poly string at least every four weeks. If you are an extreme topspin player, stay clear of this one. If you are a deft, touch player placing his shots with brain, this one might be the positive surprise that it was for me.
From:Andrew, 12/15/19

Comments: Okay, so I've been using VS Touch 16 gauge in the mains with Volkl Cyclone 17 gauge in the crosses, in my Prince Phantom Pro 100, with the VS strung at 53 lbs and the Cyclone at 48 lbs. I have played four doubles matches to date (3 sets each) with solid 4.0-4.5 players, so 8+ hours of play time to date. I have a history of tennis elbow so I was a bit hesitant to try the Cyclone even in a hybrid set up. I had previously tried various so-called "softer" co-polys in a number of different hybrid combinations, and frankly, the poly combined with the higher stiffness of previous racquets, even when I strung as a hybrid at low tensions, eventually produced the arm problem. But now, with the VS Touch in the mains of my arm-friendly Prince Phantom Pro 100, I am astonished. The comfort and playability are fantastic. Absolutely love this combo.
From:Gene, 12/31/18

Comments: This is for the black colored string. I've used dozens of cheap guts and other brands of guts and I have to say Babolat makes really good quality stuff. This strung up nicely in a tour 90.
From:Don, 9/12/18

Comments: It's great in my Volkl super G mid 330. Main gut at 22 crosses Alu power at 20.By far best combo in every way. Price performance is also great as full poly needs to be restrung every week (for me) but this combo last for over 6 weeks already. I am coaching daily 6+ hours.I will never put nothing else for main string only GUT!!!
From:jan 8/30/18

Comments: I'm level 4 singles player and play 4 matches (3 sets) a week. I use Babolat Pure Drive+ 2018 racquet. I strung this @55lbs in mains and cross with Lux4G soft @ 52Lbs. Previously I was using RPM Blast 18g @52 lbs full bed, I do more topspin shots and but my depth was lacking. After trying with this hybrid, my topspin remained same and the pace and depth was too good. My opponent who I used to play with him regularly, told me that my shots are too powerful and ball bounces bit high than before, due to topspin and power. Big plus!! Moreover I do not feel any stiffness in my arm or shoulder. Overall my volleys, slices, backhand improved a lot. Only thing I struggled was my server. I do more slice, kick servers. Since this string has more power, I was not able to control the servers to keep it in. Overall very good hybrid string!! Worth for the money!
From:Prakash, 8/24/18

Comments: Attention Babolat rep! First I want to say that the string is remarkable. It's very durable, holds tension nicely and nothing feels or plays as well. Second I want to report that most all of the sets are short. I use this string in the mains of an 18x20 frame so I really need the package stated lengths of 20' and 40'. I always measure the string with a tape measure before stringing so I know what I have to work with. Especially when I buy the 40' set and intend to cut it directly in the middle for two hybrid string jobs. Many times the 20' set has been 19'-2" and the 40' set has been 39'-2". I hope this can be corrected. We do pay a premium price for your top of the line product. Thanks.
From:Keith, 7/25/18

Comments: I'm stringing this in the mains as a hibrid with ALU Power in the crosses. Because the poly in the crosses looses tension much faster and more than gut, I end up after 30 minutes of play with a looser setup. Which is what I want. With 10 string savers it lasts close to 3 hours, on clay, as a 6+ rated player.
From:LMR, 5/16/18

Comments: Did a hybrid at 40 lbs with this as the main, ALU Power as a cross in an 18x20 98 inch low power frame, and it is just incredible. I hit relatively flat, so the wear to the gut was almost non-existent. Stupid heavy ball, I tried a hybrid of Luxilon Gut and ALU Power at the same tension, and the Babolat setup just schools the Luxilon setup every way possible. This is the best string setup I've used in 30+ years of tennis, and it will be my standard setup from here on out, cost be damned.
From:Brett, 11/30/17

Comments: Strung in the mains on a Blade 98S with Solinco TB on the crosses. Feels wonderful and provides good spin. Unfortunately, after six sets of doubles, the gut is frayed and the balls spray. This racquet is very string/tension sensitive.
From:Pete, 9/16

Comments: I just can't believe that this is the most durable string I have ever used. When you put VS Touch for the mains and Alu Power for the crosses, it is even more durable than a poly. But if you put Alu power for the mains and VS Touch for the crosses, it will break like a multi (3-8 hours for me). After 24 hours of playing, the hybrid looses its control, but the comfort is still there. This is the first string I ever cut before breaking the strings. I string VS Touch at 55 lbs and Alu power at 52 lbs.
From:Nikhil, 7/16

Comments: Vs Touch (in the mains at 55 lbs) and Luxilon Alu Power (in the crosses at 52 lbs) equals pin point control, outstanding comfort and above average spin without any string movements. Durability is also really good. I played 10 hours with this string so far but the gut didn't even fray. I typically break a multifilament in 5 hours of hard hitting.
From:Kevin, 7/16

Comments: Using the VS Touch 16 in a hybrid setup, gut in the mains, Wilson NXT Power 16 in the crosses, 53 lbs in my Wilson Ultra 108. Changed to this setup after tennis elbow issues exacerbated by a brief fling with Luxilon Element, a reported "arm friendly" poly that I tried in hybrid with the NXT (no more poly, ever, for this old man!). Anyway, the VS Touch/NXT combo is fantastic. My elbow loves it as does my game (4.0 -4.5 dubs, big kick serve, aggressive returns but also plenty of senior level lobs and touch shots). Downside? Price -- but saving the arm is so worth it.
From:Geno, 5/16

Comments: I'm an intermediate ranged player around a 3.5-4.0 on most playing aspects. I started out using these on a Babolat Pure Aero strung at 55 lbs around 2 months ago. I'm a player who uses a very defensive play style, mainly consisting of deep court to deep court rallies for most of the match, and trying to pick apart my opponent with well placed and powerful forehands. I never play at the net unless there is a clear winner there, or unless my opponent makes me. Also keep in mind I'm a player that uses lots of topspin in my game (mostly has come naturally with practicing deep shots so much), and these strings have shown moderate signs of wear but are still playing great, especially for a natural gut! I play on a local high school team (currently ranked #3) and play 3 matches a week, as well as at least 2-3 organized practices and 1-2 friendly unorganized matches with my friends a week, each lasting 2-3 hours. Last season, during the offseason and the beginning of this season, while using my old choice of string (babolat synthetic gut 16 strings), the toll my wrist and forearm took was impressive to say the least. I've spent much more time with the trainer than I'd like to admit! After having constant soreness and aching in my right arm, I decided to make a string change and I've noticed the improvement in comfort they bring on deep, and/or powerful shots. I have a Babolat Pure Drive strung with RPM Blast 15/VS Touch 16 hybrids strung at around 58 lbs as my backup racquet and I seem to get much more top spin from the Pure Drive with the hybrids compared to my Pure Aero with a full set of VS Touch 16. Would this be because of the added RPM Blasts on the mains? I love the comfort this string adds and it has average/above average play all around the board, but I can deal with a sore arm if switching to rpm blasts would fit my play style better and in turn help me win more matches.

Comments: This is a review from a 5.0 level player playing 4-5 days per week (8-10 hours) with a Prince Neos tuned to 1/100 lb accuracy. I was a long time 18G Kevlar+ Gamma TNT 17g user until I developed wrist tendinitis. My club pro team mate suggested I switch from my Head sticks to Babolat Pure Drive with a VS Gut/Pro Hurricane Tour combo. I got a pack to demo and haven't turned back in 4 years. I love the feel of this combo which I string at 58 lbs for both mains and crosses. The gut does loosen up a bit to what I think is about 54 lbs (my guesstimate based on what I'll explain below). Although I think a host of things affect injuries in the upper body, I do believe that switching to this has helped me by reducing vibrations as compared to my previous string. It is important to note that the durability of ths VS Gut is extremely impressive. I've gotten 2-3 months on the VS Gut and I hit with a lot of spin! (compared to 2-3 weeks with the 18G Kevlar). I think those contemplating gut should factor that if concerned about the $43 price tag. Sure, hitting and swing styles and equipment affect string life but in my situation, longevity is great. What I will also point out and find interesting is that 9 of 10 times, I break the Pro Hurricane crosses first. Sometimes the PHT goes within 2 weeks. I sure as heck am not going to cut out the gut, so I bought a reel of PHT and when it breaks, I just restring the crosses but at 54 lbs which after much trial and error seems to be where the mains are after some use. For new stringers, I recommend you pre-stretch the gut and take your time un-spooling it. You do not want to kink it. I pre-stretch the gut with about 40 lbs of force for about 5 minutes. To me that minimizes the natural stretch of the string during use. Bottom line, great string and fair price for this quality level of gut. You owe it to yourself to try it once.
From:EM, 9/15

Comments: I'm 61 and a good 4.0 player with parts of my game at 4.5. Have played with a Volkl V1 Classic and these strings for a couple of years now and cannot say enough about the power, touch, feel and arm-friendliness of this setup. Even tried the 17 gauge and it's even better. Well worth the cost -- I started playing with VS gut in the early 70's in college and it's been my favorite string all these years.
From:Marty, 5/14

Comments: I'm a 4.0 player who loves the unmatched feel of this string. I use it in the mains at 52 lbs to get the maximum feel. I've tried RPM Blast and other polys in the crosses at about 48 lbs which cuts the price and still plays great! But after a while the mains cut notches in the crosses and then the mains get stuck in these notches which degrades the playability/feel. Can anyone suggest a slippery string for the crosses that will resist notching?
From:Doug, 12/13

Comments: I am a 4.0/4.5 player and have used Bablolat VS in both 16 and 17 gauges and both types last for months. I play on Har-Tru, and play anywhere from 2-4 times a week. My strings wear out before they break. I can only remember breaking strings once or twice in the last 4 years or so. I read these stories of gut simply breaking for no apparent reason and think I am either very lucky or folks are doing something that I am not doing.
From:Marty, 5/13

Comments: I string this in a hybrid with ALU Power at 48 lbs and this is the second time I used this set up. Both times, within 1 week, the natural gut starts to fray, unlike Wilson's natural gut. I'm definitely going back to Wilson.
From:Anon, 5/13

Comments: I have used this string strung anywhere between 55-60 pounds for about 20 sets. It's a great string, powerful, arm friendly and it's durable all the way until it snaps unexpectedly.
From:Linwood, 3/13

Comments: The best! Simply no argument, VS Gut + ALU Power 16g is the best! Don't waste your time looking for "better value". Use this combo once and you will never ever use anything else. I only wish I discovered it earlier, and I could have played better tennis so much longer. Try it once, and I promise you you'll love it!!!
From:Ron, 2/13

Comments: Amazing! VS Team is great, but this is gold. I had one strung in a full bed and I had the time of my life. And in a hybrid with RPM Blast, woo hoo! It is amazing, and better than VS Team. Amazing, if the color gets frayed just buy a black Babolat marker and it will look amazing again. This is the greatest string in the world in every possible aspect! I recommend it in a Babolat AeroPro Drive 2013 (the new and greatest racquet in the world) as a full bed at 53/54 lbs or 56/56.5 lbs. As a hybrid, try it in the mains with RPM Blast or the new amazing RPM Dual (released in 2013 but I already have it) at 54/55 lbs or 55/55.5 lbs.

Comments: Amazing! VS Team is great, but this is gold. I had one strung in a full bed, and I had the time of my life. And in a hybrid with RPM Blast, woo hoo! It is amazing, and better than VS Team.
From:Essy, 11/12

Comments: The gold standard in string setup is VS Touch mains + AluPower 16 for crosses. No ifs, buts, or maybes. Period. Or, you don't have to take my word for it, just look at what the pros who're not worried about how much a string costs are using - VS Touch + ALU Power!
From:Anon, 11/12

Comments: All of the feedback is about how great this string is. Some people say that it breaks so fast and some people say that last so long. My feedback is that this string is the best (I have a Head prestige MP 18x20 with a leather grip) and it lasts so long. Everything is about stringing. When I am stringing all strings (but not natural gut) I am ready in 20 minutes, but when I string my racguet with Babolat natural gut it takes about 80 minutes. You have to string very carefully and also you can use string savers if you want. I broke Tecnifibre X-one Biphase (1.25mm) in 7 hours and VS Gut (1.30mm) in 45 hours.
From:Michal, 11/12

Comments: Very control-oriented string. Ball pocketing is great. Good power. I strung my Wilson BLX Surge at 58 lbs, with a full bed. It seems very stiff when hitting the ball. It doesn't have a soft feel at all. I'm a little disappointed in the comfort of this string so far. I need to play with it a little more.
From:Mark, 8/12

Comments: Use this in the main strings at 57 lbs, with Luxilon ALU Rough at 54 in the crosses. By far and away the very finest string setup I've ever had. Precise placement and ball-crushing power are completely under control at all times. Every stroke is improved. I have more confidence than ever before. I am using with Head IG YOUTEK Prestige S.
From:Richard, 6/12

Comments: Babolat completely ruined the feel of their gut with BT7. If you are coming fromOriginal VS Gut beware. The new BT& version is much stiffer and does not have the same ballpocketing for me.
From:Steve, 5/12

Comments: Due to my tennis elbow I had to adjust my game 100% and try the Babolat natural gut touch. What a string! It helped my elbow and also improved my game all around. It holds very nice and it keep the pop on the ball. Thanks to Tennis Warehouse for recommending this string to me, I am very please with it!
From:Juan Carlos, 11/11

Comments: I strung this string in a racquet by mistake and initially it felt a little stiff. The gut, however, was better than any of the other strings that I tried. I have been using it for several months now and the strings perform better than ever, despite its somewhat frayed appearance.
From:AC, 10/11

Comments: This is a very good string. It is comfortable on the arms and great playability. I recommend stinging this in a hybrid on the mains and putting a poly on the crosses.
From:Bob, 10/11

Comments: This is string is not as good as expected. It feels little dull strung at 57 lbs. Some good multifilament strings have better feels than this one.
From:Anon, 10/11

Comments: I have never used natural gut string before and I have only used poly once. I decided to give this a try. I put Babolat Hurricane Feel in my mains at 57 pounds with Babolat VS Natural Gut in my crosses at 60 pounds. This set up is incredible. I get so much control and power it is incredible. The feel of each shot is amazing. No arm issues, no elbow issues, just plain awesome. If you have not tried this hybrid combination, I highly recommend it. As far as durability goes, I will let you know as I have only played with it for 3 hours so far.
From:Dan, 9/11

Comments: I haven't played with natural gut since the wood racquet days in the juniors and decided to give it a try to help with arm problems and power. I have not been disappointed. It was simply the best. I have the VS in the mains with Babolat Excel in the crosses and my arm feels 15 years younger. Strings beautifully, just need to take a little more time to avoid crimping. Not sure yet about durability overall (play on clay 2/3 of time in summer), but so far so good. Great string.
From:Tony, 8/11

Comments: Simply the Best! I use VS gut on the main and Luxilon Rough on the cross and it is just amazing. There is nothing better. Incredible pop, spin and feel. I highly recommend the string.
From:Michael, Newport Beach, CA, USA, 03/11

Comments: Wow!! This string is amazing. Not as treacherous to string as I thought it was going to be. using string savers and so far I think this string is stellar. Weird sound though, but so what...for something that works this well and doesn't hurt the arm.
From:Adam, St. Augustine, FL, USA, 03/11

Comments: Great string, no better string on the market for touch and feel, and actually has great durability. I lie to swing fast and hit a heavy racquet (Prince EXO3 Rebel) with these in the mains and Big Banger Power Rough in the crosses; both at 62#s. I love this setup as I hit a heavy western forehand and like to hit a heavy flat slice. They offer precision control and maximum feel, especially at the net, and the only regret I have is that they don't hold tension very long, but I am reluctant to try anything else. I make these last about 2-3 months of hard hitting. These strings want to be strung at 58# and up for maximum benefit.
From:Kyle: 3.5-4.0, Oklahoma City, OK. 6/10

Comments: I was experiencing a lot of shoulder pain using different brands of multifilaments with price ranging between $15 and $20 on my Wilson K6.1 Tour. I thought it's because of the stiff racquet (partly it was). So I demoed Volkl PB 10 Mid. It came with Babolat VS/Pro Hurricane hybrid stringing(nice job TW). No pain at all while demoing. I fell in love with the racquet and purchase it. It came with some Volkl mutifilament string for free. After two session of hitting with this string my shoulder pain came back. Now I use Babolat VS 16/Pro Hurricane Tour 17 and my shoulder is much better. The conclusion is that this string makes so much difference when it comes to comfort. The Volkl frame also helps with comfort as it has very low stiffness index (59). But I have to remark the feel, power and control that I get from this hybrid. Spin I would say is medium. Even durability is great because the natural gut does not fray because of the smooth texture of the the poly string.
From:Daniel, Piscataway, NJ, USA. 4/10

Comments: 16 gauge gut is definitely better than 17 gauge. Both are elastic and apply controllable power and pace to your shots but...the 16 gauge just feels more comfortable to me because it's thicker and plushier. Swing with proper technique and form and you will be rewarded off both forehand and backhand strokes. This string is insanely expensive but once in a while...if you have the finances, save some money for this and savor the awesome power, pace, and depth that can be easily obtained with what seems like only natural gut. I feel safe to say that I can swing quite hard at the ball and still keep it in, which is awesome. I would get my racquets strung with this every time, but it is just too darn expensive! I consider this string a very good treat. Babolat VS. 16 gauge natural gut is my favorite string! ^_^ Much better than BB Ace 18.PROS:excellent feel, good tension maintenance, controllable power, and arm-friendly.CONS:Price vs. performance is questionable due to the string easily fraying. VERY PRICEY!!
From:AJ, Oregon, USA. 4/10

Comments: Now I'm not exactly rich, in fact I'm far from it. But if you are not a string breaker at all (like me), save 42 bucks for this gold. It is comfortable and so easy to hit absolutely amazing shots with, and is just so easy to play with. Just swing nicely on a tough shot and you'll see a HUGE difference. I almost think I'm cheating when I use this, because everyone drops in with amazing topspin and plow through. I guess there's just nothing like natural gut.
From:Evan, Long Island, NY, USA, 10/09

Comments: Great strings: power, control, and comfort. But they break only after 4 hours of play for me.
From:Anon., SF, CA, USA. 09/09

Comments: I've used Babolat vs gut exclusively for about 6 months. I tried the 17 gauge and 16 gauge in all different racquets and string patterns and I love both of them very much. The 17 gauge is lively, but it feels a little less plush than the 16 version. Both gauges provide phenomenal touch, feel and power, but I prefer the overall feel of the 16 gauge best. I'm a pretty flat hitter so it takes me a month and a half to break these strings. They retain tension so well, better than any synthetic or polyester. I play an attacking style similar to Mardy Fish (although not AS good as he is, lol) and I love having my racquet strung with this gut when I'm carving an approach shot or blasting a volley into the corners. Amazing strings, totally worth the money if you're an old school player like me.
From:Anon, 06/09

Comments: Great string! Had a really nice plush feel with the perfect blend of power and control. I strung it in my Babolat AeroPro Drive in the mains with Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour in the crosses, and it performed beautifully, excellent combination. I would recommend it to anyone willing to spend the money on the best gut string on the market for great playability and a blend of power and control, highly worth it, you won't regret it!
From:James, Reno, Nevada, USA. 6/09

Comments: Fantastic string for open string patterns, but if you use 18 mains, go for the vs, much more feel on the ball. Great ball pocketing and overall feel. Power is accessible, but only when wanted. It's not like a multifilament, which always adds power. Go for gut, honestly. You'll enjoy it.
From:Anon., USA. 05/09

Comments: Durability was not an issue with me, as I have played more than 10 hours with it and it still has about 90% of the original tension of 62lbs. I love the feel of this string and can confidently place the ball wherever I want, imparting as much spin as I want. It does fray a lot after 5 hours, but besides looking crappy, it still plays well. The only con for me is I don't like the sound it makes.
From:Andrew, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. 3/09

Comments: The quality of the string is astounding, of course. However, the lifespan for a hard hitter with a large amount of topspin is about 4 and a half hours of play. I play about 15 hours a week or more, and I went through three rackets strung with this in one week. If you are searching for a string with excellent play and the most out of your game, I definitely suggest that you try these strings. And if money isn't a factor, it's even more of a reason to try these great strings out.

Comments: I've used the 17 gauge and the 16 gauge, in a Prestige mp and they're both awesome string. The 17 feels livelier (obviously) and bouncier, I preferred the 16 gauge because it gave me more consistency on serves and felt a lot better on volleys.
From:Anon. 2/09

Comments: Strung at 64 lbs on a K factor 95 with 16 mains. It's been great since first strung in September and it's just now starting to move during heavy hitting. It also lost some tension, but after a month. Which is to be expected. It was still manageable. I put on some Wilson string savers (which were better than I expected) on the sweetspot and lightly across the stringbed. It made the strings feel tighter again and provide a more control oriented string bed as if it were freshly strung.

Comments: This string is great! I went through about 8 different strings (non-gut) trying to find the right combination of feel and power for my Prince 03 Black. After the first couple of strokes I knew I would be happy with them. I was a bit concerned, though, after reading the replies mentioning the lack of durability of this string. I took my chances, am using string savers and I occasionally put a light coat of sewing machine oil on the strings. I am still on my first set, after about 6 weeks (although they are definitely fraying). I hope to get another couple of weeks out of them and that is enough for me. I'm sold on them....
From:Rob, Costa Mesa, USA. 9/08

Comments: It's great stuff. I'd prefer to use a full set in an open pattern, but in an open pattern, like all my sticks (k6.1, prince graphite, radical pro) I'd use this in a hybrid with either Babolat Pro Hurricane or Luxilon ALU Power in the mains. In open patterns it's still great string, but it's a bit springy in my k6.1 16x18, causing me to overhit. I'm eager to get it strung in a hybrid, previously I had Pro Hurricane (white) and VS 17 gauge in the crosses. It was much better.
From:alex, spring, tx, usa. 9/08

Comments: Great string that delivers a lot of power and has a great spin potential, but on the down side it frays immediately and lacks durability.
From:Aditya, Chicago, IL, U.S.A. 8/08

Comments: Love at first hit! Strung at 61 lbs on a k6.1 16x18, the feel is unmatched. There's tons of control on all shots, but the best by far are my volleys with the gut. I can hit the corners with ease. When I want to go for big groundies, the string has the accessible power to slam winners. I recommend for people who love attacking the net as much as I do.
From:Anon. 8/08

Comments: This string wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be. I gave it to a stringer that strings for pros on tour 3 times and 2/3 times it snapped in a week. It's better to use it as a hybrid for more power. I wonder why the pros don't snap their strings so fast as I do.
From:Tim, Arcadia, CA, USA, 07/08

Comments: Excellent string. The string did have some durability issues, but I would choose this string over Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power any day. The string had a lot of feel, excellent spin potential and a lot of power. But after 3 hrs of play the coating of the string came of and by the third day a lot of string moment occurred. If you are looking a string with playability, this is the string for you.
From:Aditya, Chicago, IL, usa. 6/08

Comments: It appears that tensions above 70 lbs. will cause your strings to break after playing a handful of sets. I increased my tension to 75 lbs on a Kneissl Toms Machine and had them break really, really quickly. At 60 lbs, on a Babolat Pure Drive, the strings lasted very long, so long that you have to replace them because they are no longer effective. It could be the rackets, but I don't think so. Just a word of warning for power hitters. If you can serve 100+ avoid these strings.
From:Cory, Honolulu, HI, USA, 05/08

Comments: The only thing anyone needs to know about this string is that it's the benchmark all other strings are compared to. If you are a person who loves the enjoyment of tennis, give up all other strings to learn what hitting a ball can be. As far as complaints of durability maybe people need to understand what Babolat string savers are.
From:Bear, Pennsylvania. 11/07

Comments: Amazing strings. It was a bit expensive so I did not bother to try it until now. I didn't go with the half set since I wanted to see how the actual string feels by itself before I crossed it with anything. Let me tell you, the price was worth it. I can feel the ball so much more now and my control got a lot better with it as well and in turn I can hit with more power without worrying about it going all over the place. I play every day for 2-3 hours, and I've used this string for 2 weeks now. I'll give it about another 2 weeks or so to break. If you have the money, go for these strings. They're absolutely the best in terms of everything except for durability. But hey, you can never get everything.
From:Dave, San Diego, CA, USA. 10/07

Comments: I put natural in a blend with pro hurricanes set at 50lbs with the naturals on the crosses and it works like a beast. I've also tried PH with Xcel Premium as a blend at 52lbs and naturals beat it. Natural in the blend last about 2 weeks if you play about 7 days a week at 6 hrs a day and have power and a lot of spin. I have A LOT spin on my kick serve so if you are worried about having your strings broken in a short hitting session you shouldn't worried. Unmatched feel, spin, control, and power well worth your money. Try it. I've used it in my ncode 90 for two years and it rocks. All Court, aggressive play, lots of spin on Eastern forehand and Eastern One handed backhand, great volleys and flat, kick, and slice serve
From:Eric, USA, 05/07

Comments: This is the first time I played a natural gut string. I strung it with my Wilson nCode 95 @ 56lbs and found it offered an excellent combination of power and feel. This is by far the best string I've ever played. Period. There are two problems about this string one is price and the other is durability. The string lasted only 6 hours of play before it broke and that's my new record. I think I will go back to NXT Tour since it's a lot cheaper and lasts longer.
From:Labhas, Bangkok, Thailand, 05/07

Comments: I really like this string it has a lot of power and spin. These don't break as often as some people say I play on my high school, I hit with lots of spin and power. These are great string but really expensive too.
From:Jonathan, Riverside, CA, USA, 05/07

Comments: This is the best string having lots of feel and power. I don't break this string as often as so many have commented. My racquet has a dense string pattern with 18 mains and 20 crosses. If your racquet has this kind of string pattern you won't break these strings too quickly. I use a Dunlop 200 M-fil, strung at 64 lbs.
From:Ged, Baltimore, MD, USA. 3/07

Comments: This string is not very good. I play third single and third doubles on my High School varsity squad and I hit with lots of power and top spin. These strings broke in 5 weeks with the Hurricane Tour mains. If you are a consistent hitter who hits in the same spot nearly every time I don't recommend these strings because they break pretty fast and they're just not worth the money. I'm going to use just Hurricane Pro Tour all around and see how they compare.
From:Taylor, CA, USA. 3/07

Comments: I have tried different variations, both hybrids and single string sets. The VS Natural 16 touch is definite a good part of my collection. I regularly break the strings of course. I have also had friends at this string job and they report magnificent results. No longer any itchy elbows and definite improved power. One guy's serve went at least 10% faster. Although he was using a bad string earlier, that is very good. Most of them use about 50-60 hours to break it. A must in your hybrid (at crosses, unless you hit quite slow).
From:Kevin, USA. 1/07

Comments: This string is simply outstanding. There is nothing bad about it except for the price. I have tried tons of string and this is the best. I guess you could even say I'm addicted to it. If you can afford this stuff. BUY IT! Everything I've heard about it is totally and completely true. Except it doesn't just break like people think it does. It unravels. Bottom line is buy this string. It is great.
From:Anonymous. 11/06

Comments:A fantastic feel - playable to the extreme. Durability is an issue, but that's gut. I highly recommend using string savers and consider using this as your crosses in a hybrid string job. If used for the full string bed the mains will get sawed to pieces by the crosses. I am a hard hitting, top-spinner and get lots of movement with these strings if they are used for the whole string bed (used in whole string bed I typically get about 5 hours of solid play before they shred.) If money is an issue, these can get expensive quickly - so consider using them in combination with a synthetic main string. WARNING: the feel is addictive!
From:Mike, Janesville, WI, USA, 10/06

Comments: I am a first time user of natural gut and this was my first choice of string to try. Everything I've ever heard about gut is true. Amazing playability. I've played 1 set of singles and 4 sets of dubs with it so far. No sign of wear and great tension maintenance. Not as much power as advertised, which is good. I clearly see how this string can spoil you rotten. With the money, you got to try it at least once.
From:Tom, Albany, OR; USA 07/06

Comments: When I read comments from junior players that this string breaks after just a couple of hours playing I suspect the stringer is to blame not the string. Natural gut is very easy to kink and a stringer not used to handling gut strings with the care they require can easily damage the string resulting in early breakage. A natural gut string job done by a professional will last much longer.
From:Gunnar, Bergen, Norway 06/06

Comments: This is my first natural gut and I used it on an nSix-One Tour 90 for the mains in a hybrid with Luxilon alu power rough as the crosses. I strung both strings at 57.5 lbs. in comparison to prince synthetic gut 16 strung at 60lbs, there is noticeably a lot more power and spin. I was able to generate a lot of spin and the feel of the string is absolutely great. As for durability I cannot comment because I have not popped the strings yet but so far, its lasted me 10 hours and I consider myself to be a hard hitter.
From:David, San Marcos, CA, USA 05/06

Comments: This string breaks so easily that it's not even worth it to buy the string. I read all the comments that other people had and it sounded like a great string, so I went out and bought and at the end of my first match with it, it broke. And I'm only 13 years old. It really expensive and not worth the money.
From:Ford, Wayzata, MN, USA 05/06

Comments: I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, it is okay, using it in a hybrid is better. This has lasted me 3 weeks (2 hours a day) and no signs of breaking, people that say this string breaks fast have probably never tried it.
From:Jay, Washington, USA 04/06

Comments: Great power, but could use more control on the serve
From:Anonymous 1/21/06

Comments: WARNING ADDICTIVE!!! But at the same time it is the best string in the world!! Thankfully I am a sponsored player!! This expensive with the discount! It goes great with my Babolat Pure Control at 62 pounds! I just got a fresh stick out today and won 2 matches 6-1,6-0 and 2nd 6-3,6-3 and I am having a great tourney!!
From:Ron, Louisville, KY USA 01/06

Comments: Unbelievable! This string is great!! I play Level 1 tourneys and I haven't lost a match yet with the string. Currently I use a Head Prestige MP and it goes along greatly with the Babolat VS string. I am hitting the ball harder as well as controlling it well. I would recommend this string to anybody who would like to improve their game with more power, control as well as top spin on the ball.
From:Hugh, Douglaston, NY, USA 07/05

Comments: I never understood how people break strings so easily. I'm a power hitter (big forehand, 125-130 mph serve) and yet I've NEVER broken a string before. And I play about 13 hours a week. But these strings will break because of the Natural Gut. After a couple hours you could really see the strings start to shred. For the mains (the pro hurricane) that thing will never break. All in all I'd give these strings a 9.5/10 for the overall feel.
From: Kevin, California, USA. 10/04

Comments: Very nice string. It pockets well and feels great. I get a lot of bite with it.
From: Brian, Boston, MA, USA. 5/04

Comments: I must say that this string is great, it has so much potential you cant imagine before you try it. When you hit the ball its just like it sticks to your racket and you can then place it wherever you want with an enormous boost of power. Only disadvantage is the durability, I can only play for 7 hours with it then it just snaps. I am glad I am one of the guys who gets his strings for free, otherwise it would make tennis a little too expensive. Another big advantage is the relief on my elbow, I play 14 hours every week and I don't even feel my elbow since this string.
From: Jason, New York, NY, USA. 9/03

Comments: I love this string, it gives great push off the ball and guides it very well. This helps me so so so much. I really recommend it.
From: Jackson, Los Angeles, CA, USA. 6/03

Comments: Well, I do have to say that this string is not bad, if you are just looking for power. If you are a frequent string breaker, and hit a lot of topspin, you will break this string in about 2 weeks, even with string savers being used. That can hit you in the pocket books to have to keep restringing, the feel was ok, after awhile, but at the start, did not give me much feel at all.
From: First Name: Ryan, Grand Blanc, Michigan, USA. 3/03

Comments: I played with all string types and finally had settled with one of the most popular polys which provides excellent power and durability. I played with that string for the last 3 years and have been very happy with it. However, Babolat VS Touch has brought a new dimension to my game. VS touch is amazing. Wonderful feel, control, touch and awesome power. Durability is good too, and tension loss is much less than any other string I ever played with. In my opinion, nothing is better than VS Touch, my arm is also relieved since I started playing with it.
From: Lucio, New York, NY. USA 12/02

Comments: I recently bought a used racquet as a back up to my Gamma DF 9.5. It arrived the day of a match strung with Babolat VS Natural Gut 16 Touch. A few days before, I had broken the set on my main stick and didn't have time to restring. I was concerned that the new configuration would affect my play. I typically use a 17g. string, strung pretty tight. It did affect my play...for the better. The control and power helped in a 6-3, 6-0 victory with a racquet I had never hit. I didn't have time to see what the racquet was strung with until after the match, imagine my surprise. My frame never hit better and Babolat has a new convert.
