Comments: My honest review of this racquet is that I can't believe how much love it receives. I'm a 4.5 player, wanted to switch to a lighter and more powerful frame, so I demo'd a bunch and settled on this one. Wish I had used it more before committing to buy it. The past year of using it has been dreadful for my game. This racquet feels cheap, flimsy, and unsubstantial when I swing it. There is no weight or plow-through to speak of. I'm not physically the strongest, so I rely on my racquet and technique to generate power. I think this one will work if you can generate power with solid upper body strength, because it's like swinging a piece of cardboard. Just feels like I'm doing all the work with absolutely zero help from the racquet, and not to mention that the two I received have wild variations in specs due to poor quality control. Finally replaced my Pure Drives with the Yonex EZONE 98, which seems to do everything the PD claims, but significantly better.

Comments: First, let me say I experienced no arm or elbow pain after playing 3-4 days a week. I think Babolat has gone to great lengths to fix this issue. It is really a complete racquet- a dream to serve with. Flat, topspin and slice, with easy power and penetration. Volleys stable at net for either deep or short angles. The slice is amazing and improved from the 2018 version. The paint job is the best I've seen from them. Don't be fooled by the imitations like the Yonex Ezone or Wilson Ultra. This is the real deal. I lead it up at 3 and 9, 54lbs with Cyclone. Leather grip.

Comments: I ordered a 2021 Pure Drive to replace my 2015 Pure Drive+ - before which I played with a Wilson Pro Staff Torch.  Love the 2021 Drive - nice Pure Drive feel - a little dampened compared to the 2015 which is what I prefer. It provides more direction to my volleys without bounce back. I like the regular length as it gave me more movement at the net - and the same power from the baseline really. I string with VS Touch 16 - Mains - 55 lbs and RPM Blast 17 - Crosses - at 50 lbs.  I also bought a Pure Strike, but returned it for a back-up Pure Drive. The Strike was stiffer - a bit clunky and head heavy in a way I didn't like.   My 0.02.

I've tried them all since they first appeared a few decades ago and none have had the comfort level of the 2021. I won't say it's plush, but I felt no discomfort and didn't find it harsh at all. The familiar Pure Drive virtues are there, with fine power and spin, easy handling, plenty (sometimes a bit too much) of pop on serves, ample stability, and did I mention great serving? Comments: I played with the Pure Drive 2021 for about two months. I loved this racquet for its power, stability, and mobility. It is a very easy racquet to play. It is a stiff racquet, but my arm or wrist doesn't hurt like the old Pure Drive. I'm using Gosen Sidewinder 17G at 54lbs. I was playing with Yonex Vcore 98+, using a one handed backhand and traditional forehand. The Pure Drive 2021 gave me a lot of spin on the serve, and it is very easy to serve wide on deuce or wide on the ad side. The volley was solid; it lacks a little bit of feel on touch or drop-shot volley. It was easy to block the serve on the return. It was effortless to serve with flat or spin. I was totally surprised by the shot that I generated With this racquet and am still learning what I can and can not do. It is a great racquet by Babolat.

Comments: After a lot of reading, I decided to buy one of these because I was wanting to move on from my Head beginner's racquet. I can't say I'm disappointed with this racquet though. The only issue I have had is that the original grip came apart from the top after I had an overgrip I put on that same day(but never played with) taken off by my local racquet technician. He taped it back up and installed another overgrip on top of it for me(way prettier than I could ever could do it), but I was kind of distraught. I had only had the racquet for 10 days with about 3 hours of use with just the factory grip. I'm leaving this to let anyone out there who reads through everything like I did, just know you will have to be extra careful!

During my testing process I used the Pure Aero, Pure Strike, Pure Drive, Pro Staff 97, and Blade 98. They are all amazing racquets, but the Pure Drive was the most complete overall. I'm 37 and compete in the amateur open division and found this racquet helped me maintain a balance of explosive power and accuracy during a shot on the run. Comments: Overall 2021 is a solid upgrade in my opinion from the 2015 Pure Drive that I previously used. The racquet plays with a much smoother, dampened feel than the other Pure Drives I have used. Some may not like this and want a more connected feel to the ball, but I much prefer this feel, also seems a little easier on my arm. The racquet is very powerful and if you have big strokes, you will need a lot of spin to bring the ball down. As always, it feels amazing on serve.The two racquets I ordered came in with a strung weight of 319 grams and 322 grams, so I'd suggest asking TW to match your racquets if you are at a level where a few grams can make a difference. I've added some weight to them, a little at 10 and 2 o'clock, and a decent amount in the handle with an overgrip, to bring them up to about 330 grams, 332 grams with a dampener, which feels about right for my game.Overall, I'd suggest this racquet for either strong beginners to intermediate players looking for more power or advanced 4.5+ level players who hit with a lot of spin that can tame the power. For reference, I am currently a 5.0 level USTA player who played in college.

Comments: The Babolat Pure Drive 2021 plays like the Cadillac of racquets. I played with the Wilson Blade 98 v7 for a few years and recently demo'd the Babolat and then made the purchase. I have a big serve and forehand, and the Babolat didn't overcompensate with power. I was worried I'd have too much trampoline like power, but that's not the case. I added some weight to the handle and the 12 o'clock area to fit my typical liking. I love it at net, it is easy to maneuver and control when opponents are trying to take your head off. I find it plays very much like a players racquet, with easy access to hitting deep groundstrokes in rallies and offers exceptional put-away slingshot accuracy. I used to play with the Pure Drive ages ago in 2005-2007 and this version plays nothing like I remember. If you want a racquet that enables an ease to your game then demo the Pure Drive. I strung mine with Cyclone 16 at 56 pounds. Not too stiff for me.

Comments: I have played a Pure Aero Plus for the last four years and found myself in the middle of a snow storm and unable to pick my racquets from the stringer, so I had to play with my wife's new Pure Drive. It took a bit to adjust to the frame, but my first impression was that it had power to spare. I felt more comfortable at the net, more responsive and easier to maneuver, and it seemed like it had another gear if you wanted to step on the gas. I have just as much pop as my Pure Aero Plus, perhaps more, and this frame is so much more versatile. I feel like I have a lightsaber at the net! I get a bit more depth on my strokes due to the extra pop with a generous amount of spin. I sacrificed nothing on the serve either, as my ad court flat bombs wide are as lethal as ever and the deuce court slider is pulling my opponent even wider, I am a right hander. I may add a bit of lead tape as it does feel a bit head light, but I am going to settle in a bit more before I make any changes. Absolutely fantastic update to this legendary frame, I will be ordering a third shortly.

Comments: Babolat somehow managed to improve on an already great racquet. Groundstrokes are effortless, though as stated a bit more muted, though the feel is what you expect from the Pure Drive. Especially like the penetration on the slice backhand, ball stays low and skids as expected. Strung with Tecnifibre Triax 17 at 60 pounds, found that generating spin was not difficult and launch was predictable, control was predictable. At the net volleys are crisp, got to say that I never perfected the drop volley, but I managed a couple. Serves as expected; can easily hit the flat serve or slice out wide with ease. Off-center hits seem more forgiving than the previous model, not sure if it was changing my strings or the new racquet tech, but either way it's a good thing. Overall the new version is definitely an improvement and would recommend the upgrade. I am a 59 year old, former 4.0 league player.

Comments: Awesome power. Strung with a very stiff polyester string, Yonex Poly Tour Drive. On a stiff frame, it sounds like a disaster, but the frame felt great. It is super easy to swing, and with a full, fast swing this racquet really shines. The power, along with control that comes with spin it produces, is addicting. This is a Pure Drive that plays like a Pure Drive with a nice solid feel. I've always preferred the Aero line over the Drive, but this version produces spin effortlessly with much easier access to power, full, fast swings, than the Aero line without losing control. This racquet isn't pin-point like some of the mid or midplus player's frames, but this racquet will make playing with power accessible and fun.

Comments: A long time Aero Pro Drive and Pure Aero user. A 4.0 NTRP player. Getting into my 60's and tried the new Pure Drive to see if it would offer me any advantages for doubles play as I quit playing singles. Took about three weeks of playing before getting used to it. I find that the Pure Drive penetrates the court deeper with a lower trajectory than the Pure Aero which is a bonus for doubles play. There is a lot of power behind the Pure Drive, but you have to find your stroke with the proper amount of topspin to keep it in. A fast swing speed and good follow through will bring the best out of this racquet. If your backhand needs help, the racquet will add more depth to it. Slices deeply too. Great depth on volleys. Added power on serves once you find the sweetspot and lots of action on spin serves. A great racquet for straight up doubles play. A word of caution though, bad stroke mechanics could lead to tennis elbow with any stiffer racquet. Strung with Solinco Hyper-G Soft 18 gauge at 48 pounds.

Comments: I have been a Prestige user for more than 15 years, and recently a Blade and Dunlop Srixon 2.0 Tour user for the past two years. Easy to say that the Pure Drive was not on my racquet radar, but I was looking for something to give me some ease of play, I am getting older, so I tried the new Pure Drive on a whim. I have loved this racquet from the very first hit. I was scared to have too much power, not enough control or feel, but was really pleasantly surprised. My recent Blade was an 18x20, so yes, more control; but I gained ease of play, which helps me play more relaxed, for a longer period, and make less mistakes. It drives really well, with nice plow through, and even though I never needed an open string pattern for spin generation, the spin from this racquet is a nice bonus. My hitting partners say that I'm hitting a heavier ball. My biggest surprise is how versatile it is. I construct my points a lot more, play more slices and drop shots; it just feels so nice with this racquet. So anyone that says it's just a frame for big hitting baseliners is selling this racquet short. Serving with the Pure Drive is also really nice, whether it's ripping a first serve, or kicking or slicing out a second. But the best part is how it volleys. You can really punch a volley with this thing! It is sublime for doubles play. I compared it to the 2018 model, and I do prefer the feel of the 2021 version better. It has slightly less plow through, but you feel the stringbed better. I also don't understand the general comments on arm issues or the general consensus that stiff frames cause arm and wrist problems. I've had arm issues with the soft flexing Prestige in my youth and so far, I haven't had any issues with the Pure Drive, even after two hours of play. I've now had it since its release, while playing on average three times a week, and still no issues. Time will tell, I guess. I absolutely love the 2021 Pure Drive and love the freshness it gave to my game. So if you're a control-oriented racquet user and I always shy away from these power frames, give it a try, you'll really be surprised what you'll achieve with good stroke mechanics. I tested it, and bought two, strung with Babolat RPM Blast at 55 pounds.

I have never experienced tennis elbow before, but after switching from the previous model to this one I have encountered terrible tennis elbow. Also no different with grip sizes, the 3/8's is huge.

Although from a specs perspective it's identical to the 2018 Pure Drive, the main differences I immediately felt was the 2021 model is more muted, and has less feel versus the 2018 version. More headlight and less plow through on my shots. Less power compared to the 2018 model. Less stable as well compared to the 2018 model. More whippy versus the 2018 model due to the lighter head, swings a little more like Pure Aero type of racquet. It also has a smaller sweetspot compared to the 2018 model.Both myself and my competitive 15 year old player much prefer the 2018 model as the 2018 model is much sweeter to play with. The 2018 Pure Drive as a unique sweetness when you strike the ball which the 2021 model gives up. The 2021 model feels a little more like the 2019 Pure Aero when you strike the ball, with a less aggressive launch angle.I strung the 2021 Pure Drive with Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.20 at 50 pounds.

Comments: Long time Aero Pro Drive and Pure Aero user for more than 15 years here. Every few years, I've tried the Pure Drive again with a hope to get a little more power. Could never adjust and found the previous Pure Drive iterations too harsh; always reverted back. Picked up this new Pure Drive about a week ago and love it. I strung it with Hyper-G 17 at 50 pounds. A slightly more muted feel than the Aero, but got used to it quickly and my hitting partner says balls are definitely coming in hotter. This new Pure Drive is definitely less jarring than previous versions and I've got better feel at net on volleys than the Aero and slice backhands are awesome. On paper, the swingweight is marginally lower than the Aero, but it feels like the racquet comes around faster and is more maneuverable. Overall, very impressed with this racquet; enough so that I bought a second one and I'm making the switch. Great cosmetics too! I'm a 4.0 NTRP all-court player.

Comments: I have been playing with the new Pure Drive for about a month and find it an excellent update to the previous model. The racquet is solid off the ground with very controllable power and a stable feel. At the net the racquet is very maneuverable. What I did find interesting was when comparing the previous racquet with the new racquet, the weight is the same, but there is a noticeable difference in swingweight. The 2021 version has a lighter swingweight. I strung it at 48 pounds and tried both RPM Power 17 gauge and RPM Rough 17 gauge. Both felt great. This racquet is a great choice if you're looking for something new. I'm an all-court player with a 5.0 NTRP.
